This building on a canal in Amsterdam a very entertaining story. Initially, in the 1930s, it was the office of a trading company, and then in the 1970s it housed the faculty of Humanities of the University of Amsterdam. Now it’s a boutique hotel Soho House 79 rooms. Designer Linda Boronkay made every effort to make student audiences comfortable and stylish accommodation while preserving the historical heritage of the building. Guests will find cozy rooms with lots of soft furniture and textiles, while the bar and lounge on the first floor you can relax after work in the city or long walks. We especially liked the copper baths in the rooms and a rooftop pool. And, I agree, walking along the canal, does not suggest that this building is a hotel. Interesting contrast!
