As we promised, today I want to talk a little more about how they implemented our first design project of a private house in Kiev (who has not seen it, must see first post).
The customer purchased a ready house on the Left Bank of Kiev, but without finishing, so start with a clean slate. When we got to the room, the first words that sounded – “Beams leave!”. In the end, they became one of the starting points of the future concept of housing, despite the fact that, for technical reasons, in some areas they had to close, or replace with wooden false beams.
The owner of the house — an active business man, often abroad, and particularly in the United States. In America he often visited the salons of the well-known furniture brand Restoration Hardware, and as a result became a big fan of his. Further in the interior we used the interior of this company, at the same time, large furniture, it was decided to do in Ukraine.
The layout of the house remained almost intact, with the exception of the Laundry (about it will tell in the next post). The space is conveniently divided into a common area that includes a hallway, large open plan living room with kitchen and guest bathroom, and private bedrooms and bathrooms.
The main and most favorite place in the house is a spacious living room combined with kitchen area, and is 65 sq. m. Room is on the small cozy patio, which has access through a huge sliding Windows nearly the full height of the walls. Here the family spends most of the time, welcomes guests, watches TV, eats.
Living room is divided into 4 functional zones: a TV area with a sofa and a bar Cabinet, a dining area, a kitchen and a small cozy area with a love seat by the window. On the floor it was decided to use the tiles light shade with imitation parquet flooring.

Dining area. Solid wooden Desk with metal leg is made under the order in Ukraine. Chairs – Restoration Hardware. There is a retractable wall with a TV screen and projector for watching films on the big picture.
Kitchen. The idea was to make a live kitchen in natural shades with open shelves and a solid top made of concrete. Wooden furniture has been completely designed by us and made to order by local craftsmen. Originally the wall on the background I wanted to make brick, but then got the idea to put all natural stone – as if the house was built. Vintage bar stools – Restoration Hardware.
The main objective when designing the kitchen was to ensure, to accommodate a large work surface, since hosts are big fans of cooking. This problem we solved with a 2-meter island with separate sink, spitting concrete and a hole for the trash. Ceramic sink and begged under the window, and the main focus was a large oak cupboard and numerous cooking utensils, and area for making tea or coffee.
Reading area by the window. The love seat was designed individually according to our drawings and in accordance with the wishes of the customer, who really wanted a quilted item of furniture at home. Side table and a metal cart for firewood – Restoration Hardware.
Hallway. The main feature of the room – walls in natural travertine. Managed to convey the atmosphere of living in the city and add more heat to the room. The Central object of decoration here is a old map of Kiev 1872 in a wooden frame, which was specially made for us in the frame shop. Chest – Restoration Hardware.
